Demos
Below you will find some demos highlighting the technologies we support.  These demos are running on a shared Kattare web server, with an identical configuration that your web sites would be located on.  The ecommerce demos read and update a MySql database located on one of several dedicated Kattare MySql server computers using MySql replication.  Data for these demos is not cached or in memory.  What you see is what you will get on your Kattare server.  Please dont load test these demos without first asking for permission.  If you have anything you'd like us to put up here to see how it runs, please contact us.  Thanks Much!

TOMCAT 5.5.x - JSP Examples...  These JSP examples are included with the Tomcat 3.2 distribution for testing and learning.

TOMCAT 5.5.x - Servlet Examples...  These Servlet examples are included with the Tomcat 3.2 distribution for testing and learning.

TOMCAT 5.5.x - jPetStore 3.1...  Here is another java pet store demo application installed on our Kattare shared server for folks to take a look at.  A Pet Store from the Open Source Community. A new JPetStore has arrived! Version 3 takes the best of the previous implementations and puts them together into one comprehensive example of web application architecture using Struts, Data Access Objects and advanced JDBC (via SQL Maps). Here are some of the features of JPetStore 3: A slim 2692 lines of hand written code (using Microsoft's CLOC utility). Simple declarative configuration of either a single database or distributed. New Apache Axis web service for order lookups. Full 5 Layer Architecture including: JSP Presentation, Struts MVC, POJO/Logic, Data Access Objects, JDBC (via SQL Maps). And it retains it's Classic JPetStore "philosophy" features: Still 100% freeware and open source. Still more productive. Still no stored procedures. Still no generated code. Still uses known/proven best practices. If you want to download the source and check it out, go to http://ibatis.apache.org... This application has a cool design and implementation. Demo it now on our Kattare server. jPetStore 3 uses Struts 1.0, Apache Axis soap server to handle the web service and iBATIS 1.2.5 Data Mapper framework to access a MySQL database.

TOMCAT 5.5.x - E-Commerce Candy Store demo...  This demo ecommerce site was written back in the JSP 0.9 days to test the technology out. It has been hacked over various servlets, jsp and jdk releases, so it is very "bloated", inefficient and slow and the graphics layout is terrible -- but the demo does give you an idea that jsp solutions works! It now uses almost everything in the JSP 1.1 specs except for taglibs. Java beans (standard classes) maintain an MySQL database using the JDBC api. SSL is used for the account maintenance and cart checkout process. Cookieless session management is also there -- turn off your cookies and see ;jsessionid=x appear via the response.encodeURL() method to keep session state while cookies are disabled. A single url entry point jsp controller technique demonstrates jsp forwarding as much as 5 levels deep. Everything is completely written in JSP and Java classes. NB: Please folks, do not ask for the source. This is not a commercial grade development project. We use the source code base as a snippet library to give to our customers seeking advice, techniques and support with coding problems.

TOMCAT 5.5.x - JasperReports 1.2.3 webapp demo...  Our favorite report writer by far (opensource or commercial). We've done 100k page reports and forms with JR with great success. Performance, virtual size feature, and flexibility of JasperReports is impressive. Superb formatting flexibility and event model with full java class support, enables the development of the most complex reports.

TOMCAT 5.5.x - JPetStore 5.0...  The JPetStore demo app is back again with an updated version (Dec 2005). This release focuses on cleaning up some of the mess created by JPetStore's heritage as a testbed for performance and comparisons to other implementations including LOC benchmarks, which are a horrible thing. JPetStore now includes one step deploy (drop in the war and it runs), HSQLDB and, with the default configuration, will deploy an in-memory database for the duration of your run. Of course, all of the other databases such as Oracle and MySQL Server are still supported as well. No more 1990's style web development practices. JPetStore now features web pages based on XHTML and CSS. JPetStore 5 uses Struts 1.2.7, iBATIS 2.1.6, HSQLDB 1.8.0.1, and CGLIB 2.1.3.
